Kingswood Community Transport News

Covid-19 (CoronaVirus)

Good afternoon to all our members,

I feel the time is right for an update on how KCT is managing with this outbreak of Covid-19 virus. During this week, we have held meetings to see how we can help and support the local community through this extremely difficult period. The following was agreed as the best way forward;

1. In line with government guidelines we have cancelled all pub trips for the foreseeable future.

2. All Friday Friends trips have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. If you have paid for a trip, there are several avenues open to you. We can keep the money to go towards a trip in the future. You can have it added as credit for dial-a-ride or request a refund.

3. We are still open and running for essential trips; medical appointments, shops and home visits.

4. We will provide transport for anybody struggling to attend his or her local surgery within our area. This would be at the standard cost of £1.50 each way.

So you are aware we have lost probably 90% of our trips but we want to continue serving the community in any way we can. We have offered our services to South Gloucestershire Council and we await a reply from them.

For the safety and well-being of passengers and the drivers, if you are suffering from any of the symptoms of this virus, a high temperature, cough or breathing difficulties, you should remain at home and not travel. If you need anything, please ring the office and we will try to assist.

Renewals are just about to go out and to help with our cash flow I kindly ask if you could return it as quickly as possible. Although financially we should be OK and see out this threat, we want to ensure we are in a good position to meet what I am sure will be a great demand for our services.

I’ll finish there but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the office or me.

I will keep you posted with updates as and when they happen.

You are all in my thoughts, be safe.
